1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 3/4 cups flour -- sifted
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries -- chopped
3 cups quick oats
1/2 cup walnuts -- chopped

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs until fluffy. Add buttermilk. Sift dry ingredients, except oats, into mixture. Stir in oats, berries and nuts. Drop onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes
